Wenger has seen names like Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie, Alex Song and Samir Nasri leave in the past two years already, and says those departures have left him frustated.
“You think I’m not fed up? I want them to stay,” he said. “He [Walcott] was fantastic last year in this game. He will certainly be again.
“Its always important to keep your best players. If that should happen we’ll replace him with someone – another big name. Or make another big name.
“I have discussions every day with Theo Walcott, but not every day about his contract – his agents do that.
“We are trying to get further but, at the moment, nothing else has happened.”
Reports say Arsenal are already targeting Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha and Adrian from Athletic Madrid, if the 23-year-old leaves.
