A 33 year-old man in Bauchi State, Auwalu Adamu, has been arrested by the police for allegedly raping an eight year-old girl.
The suspected rapist was arrested at Azare, Katagum Local Government Area of the state on Sunday.
Confirming the incident, the spokesman of the Bauchi Police Command, Mr Haruna Mohammed, said: “On the 21/5/2016 at about 0800hrs,Police detectives attached to Azare division arrested one Auwalu Adamu and 33 Years of Maisango ward in Azare town of Bauchi State.
“The Suspect allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge with eight years old girl of the same address.
“The Scene was visited and victim rushed to FMC Azare for medical examination where penetration was confirmed”
Mohammed, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) said the case was being investigated after which suspect would be prosecuted.
He thereby urged parents to always pay special attention to their children in order not to expose them to moral danger by deviants who could also be their close relatives .
